Tier 2 - getting published

Post by lokster01 » Tue Feb 11, 2014 2:16 pm

Hello, I would appreciate any advice on the following.

I have been on Tier 2 since 2011 and still have a few years to go before I qualify for ILR. In the meantime, I would like to get a book published and have started reaching out to literary agents. I do not intend to leave my regular job and all my writing is done outside of regular work hours. However, before progressing any further, I am not 100 % certain whether money (if any!!) I obtain through this route would put me in violation of my Tier 2.

Thanks.

is the subject of your book in any way related to the work you do under T2?

No, I work in the financial sector and my book will be purely fiction.

the conditions of your leave are no employment except:

a) the employment stated in the CoS,
b) supplementary employment,
c)voluntary work.

IMHO there is nothing in these conditions that would not allow you to write a book in your free time and have it published.

The money you earn through the book would only be of interest to HMRC, not to the HO
