RC received!

- Case submitted on 17th Feb 2014 – EEA2 Marriage route – Employed (wife is Italian, I'm Israeli)
- Requested the passports back on 18th Feb 2014 (both mine and my wife), due to business travels
- Fee deduction on 19th Feb 2014.
- Received passports back on 01 Mar 2014 (letter dated to 25th Feb 2014)
- I haven't received ANY Acknowledgment letter or CoA. Heard nothing from the day I've submitted till today.
- RC received today on 29th March 2014, dated 21th March.

Tips from my experience:
- Used all the help I could find in this forum, it was incredibly valuable. (So happy I saved 2,500gbp-3,000gbp for lawyers!!)
- One thing that changed my whole attitude were the realizations that: a. The UK would seek to decline a case unless b. the EEA2 family member 'ticks all the boxes' with the EU regulations. I figured out they don't care at all who am I (as long as I got a clean sheet), only who is my wife and if she applies with the regulations. Might be very straightforward for some, not for me at first. As such, I supplied every piece of evidence/document about my wife (3 last wage slips, employment contract, letter from employer, etc) to show that she fits perfectly with the EEA2 demands, without any doubts. Hope that helps someone!

EEA2 Civil Partner route. Partner is Spanish - has lived in the UK since 1998, currently a full-time postgrad student but has worked over the years too. I'm American - have been here since Sep 2010, Tier 4 student visa and then Tier 1 PSW. He bought basic comprehensive sickness insurance to meet the requirement for students. I gathered documents with addresses we have lived at together over the past three years, including our joint lease (since Aug 2012). We don't have a joint bank account, so along with his bank statement (required), I included mine (not required, but I thought it'd help). I also included a couple of pictures of us but was careful not to overdo it.

-Application posted to Durham on Friday 31/01/14, recorded received on Monday 03/02
-Requested passports back 03/02, received 08/02
-Letter of Acknowledgement, dated 04/02, received 08/02 along with passports
-CoA dated 05/02 with work rights. However, this was lost in the post. Wondering where it was a few weeks later,I called the UKBA at 0845 010 5200 and they sent a new one straight away.
-RC received 29/03, dated 20/03

It seems like the process has gotten much quicker in the past year. Another couple I know who went through the same process received their RC card in @ 2 months too.

Hi EveryOne, I have an idea, how about we share our Case Worker name and TimeLine, Normally I think Case Worker name comes at the end of COA Page 2. My caseworker name is Robert Nelson and I already got my visa within 2 months. If someone like to share would be nice.

Yes I think this is a good idea but I don't think home office can issue the case workers name on COA it can b the name of data proc officers but am not too sure.
Well the name on the back of my COA is dele ademuyiwa and it says data proc team under neath of this name and I sent my application in Liverpool on 8th of January but still waiting for my rc.

What number do you call to get a status update on your application? Is it the general 08450105200 number? Same as requesting your passport back?

I don't think this is a good idea, it is against individual privacy & data protection, don't think any of us is authorized to share the caseworkers identity (and for what reason?). I ask moderators to express their opinion.

I think you can only send PM if you have already contributed a certain number of posts to the forum. Not sure how many though.

Also: most people prefer that you post on the public forums so that the info provided to you/by you may help other people.

I applied on 2/12/13 and am still waiting.

People who applied after us have got RC. Such kind of a delay is normal or abnormal. Plainly put is it a good sign or bad?

Hi everyone,

Thought I'd share our timeline with you.

Application sent on 20.01.2014 (marriage route, EEA national in full-time employment), received in Durham on 21.01.2014, payment deducted the next day, acknowledgement letter issued on the same day and received on 25.01.2014. Never got any COA, no calls from the Home Office to confirm EEA national's employment. Documents submitted - 2 passports, marriage certificate, employment letter and 3 last payslips and a pre-paid special delivery envelope. EEA passport requested for business travel on 06.02.2014, received on 08.02.2014. RC received yesterday on 01.04.2014 issued on 25.03.2014.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I don't see any good in it, If they want to Issue a rc they are doing that for people who just applied over a month ago.

I am baffled to be honest, people who applied earlier are still waiting and some who just applied recently are getting their RC's.

Not sure what Is the reason behind It:-(

My understanding is all applications are first sent to their sorting facility in Durham, then forwarded to Liverpool where one team deals with payments first and then distributes the applications between 20,30 or whatever number of caseworkers they have there, each of them has got his/her own pile of applications, depending on individual cases (straightforward with all the necessary docs, a bit complicated, requiring some investigation and confirmations etc) and how quick or slow each caseworker is they get to process some in 1 or 2 months and others in 3 months or even longer. I know some applications, particularly with inexperienced caseworkers, will be passed on to one of the senior caseworkers which means it'll usually take them even longer to deal with it. One things is certain, they can't all be processed in the order they have been received - just impossible, each case is individual, many often require additional docs and enquirers, and each caseworker is different. With 6 months given to them by law to deal with each application and a department that is financed for the most part from the state budget (in contrast to all other visa and immigration departments where applicants pay a lot of money for their applications and this goes towards their budget), no one's certainly rushing to get applications out of the way.

Hi!

Super excited today as I've received my RC! I was shaking as I opened the package as I wasn't expecting it so soon!

Here's my completed timeline..

8/1/14 - EEA2 Sent
16/1/14 - Confirmation letter (dated 10/1/14)
11/2/14 - Documents returned - Application invalid (No payment form - I think they lost it in processing)

12/2/14 - EEA2 Sent
13/2/14 - Confirmation letter (14/2/14)
17/2/14 - Fees deducted
24/2/14 - COA (No right to work - Unmarried)(19/2/14)
5/4/14 - RESIDENCE CARD (issued 29/3/14)

Total time (for second application) 52 days! Less than 2 months for unmarried partner application!

Only 25 and I did it all myself!

Hi Guys,

I'm in bit of dilemma . Please help.

We applied for EEA2 got refused, sent reconsideration. And today we received a letter saying please forward us your passport.

I know it's bit vague question but can someone please advise what will be the outcome? I understand if UKBA doesn't have the passports with them they normally issue the residence card on the A4 sheet. But this is surprising case worker demanding passport again.

Please can you let me know if someone had this kind of scenario before??

Appreciate your help guys.

Thanks

THANK YOU :)

I was a bit concerned as we had no bills or tenancy agreements with our names on it until the last 9 months - I think the joint accounts really helped us out!

I sent:
- Both passports
- Copy of tenancy agreement (July 2013 - Present)
- Council Tax (July 2013 - Present)
- NI numbers issued in March 2012 (Both mine and my partner's - to prove same address)
- Letter from my partner's brother
- Payslips (Both mine and my partner's - to prove same address)
- Letter from my partner's employer
- Individual bank statements over two year period (Same address & transfers to one another)
- 3 Australian joint bank statements (dating back to December 2011)
- Australian joint bank account opening account details (April 2011)
- Various travel tickets and travel insurance certificates
- Two loose photos
- A USB with photos (so they could check dates; though I read somewhere afterwards that they can't open USB/CDs in case of virus)

Thats it!

I'd also like to add for anyone as curious as I was when I was scouring these forums...

I DID NOT;
- have a Family Permit, I had a YMS points based visa, which expired January 2014
- have a Registration Certificate (EEA1) for my partner - just an EU passport
- request the return of either passport or contact UKBA regarding my application

I thought all of these - along with being married or in a Civil Partnership - made for a faster process.

UKBA DID NOT;
- contact for additional evidence
- request an interview
- call my partner's employer
