Tier 1 (Gen) ILR granted in 15 minutes at Croydon on 31/3/14

Post by great.britain » Tue Apr 01, 2014 9:00 pm

Hi folks

First, thanks to Allah Almighty, and secondly to you guys who always contribute loads of info to this forum. My spouse, two kids and I
were granted ILR after 15 minutes. It took the case worker 15 minutes to make a decision.

I'll keep things short and sweet.

Tier 1 General visa issued = 15 April 2009
Entered the UK = 22 June (within 90 days)
Then left the UK because of my spouse's ill health = 27 July (after 5 days)

I didn't provide any separate absence letter. Nevertheless, I did mention it briefly in the covering letter.

The golden rule is: don't submit unnecessary documents. I didn't provide my 5 years P60's and HMRC letters. Actually, I got an extension on the basis of both employment as well as self-employment. However, the ILR application was based on employment.

Documents submitted:

1) Set (O) form
2) Life in the UK Test certificates for myself and spouse
3)Passports + BRPs + Photos
4) 12 months payslips
5) 12 months bank statements
6) Employer's reference letter
7) MA degree certificate (UK) and spouse's B1 certificate
8) Cohabitation documents

It was a kick in the teeth when biometric guys messed up the whole thing. The woman inputted my son's date of birth wrongly. It was a complete mix-up. However, they soon realized their error and corrected it later. The whole process took around 2 and a half hours. However, to my amazement, the case worker only took 15 minutes to decide my ILR application.

Now looking forward to receiving our BRP.

Hope this helps.

I'll be more than happy to answer any questions.

Cheers

Hi there,

First of all many many congratulations to you and your family!

I have couple of questions as my ILR is due in next 2 months

1) What documents you submitted to prove Cohabitation?
2) Which B1 test your spouse given and from where?

Thanks,
Shumaila

Hi Shumaila

Thanks.

The cohabitation documents I submitted are as follows:

1. Council tax letters under the names of both of us (me and spouse)
2. Joint bank statements
3. Poll Cards (used for voting purposes, though our names appear on the poll cards separately, but it is an official proof of both of us living in the same property.)
4. Electricity bills

B1 exam
She sat the B1 test at King's Cross, London. They charge £125 plus £8.50 for next day delivery after the centre receives the certificate from Trinity College London. The awarding body is Trinity College London, but exams are organized all across the UK by English Exam Centres. Visit 'englishexamcentres.co.uk'. Phone them on 01772802112.

I'd strongly recommend that you should do it ASAP as the certificate arrives within 12-14 days.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Ali

Hi Sak20099

CWs don't collect your file. At the registration desk, one of Home Office members of staff inputs your data into a computer and then asks you to hand in all your paperwork. It's up to you whatever you want to submit.

I didn't submit my 5 years P 60s and any HMRC letters. However, I wrote in the covering letter about my absence and stated: " I have got all documents since my first entry into the UK and if you need any clarification and any documents, please I'd like you to speak to me in person."

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Ali
