S E C T I O N 6 - A B S E N C E S F ROM THE UK

6 . 2 Since then have you had any absence(s) from the UK? If yes, give the dates of and reason(s) for the absences in the spaces below. List all absences, however short, including all of 3 months or more.
QUESTION

a) Should i mention any absence which is less than 3 months ? Its bit confusing for me to interpret the section 6.2

Any hlp much appreciated.

thanks

You can say that again.

Probably HO needs to enrol itself in ESOL trg.

The wording in this section is because you used to have to only write down absences of 3 months or longer. They have of course changed it now so that you have to mention ALL absences, but the wording still carries that old legacy.

So basically just mention all your absences. Simple.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

Agreed - list them all.

But really, the language on the form is lamentably unclear: the fifth grade at the local primary school could tidy it up and do much better, I am sure. Doesn't the BIO/Home Office employ proof-readers?

This is comparable to an application error message I once saw:

'Do you want to backup your database or have you already done so?'

Actually it reminds of a famous expression attributed to Henry Ford, who supposedly once said of his cars:

"You can paint it any color, so long as it's black"

Glad to hear it!
I am not, and cannot, offer legal advice to particular people. I can only discuss general areas of immigration law.

People should always consider obtaining professional advice about their own particular circumstances.
