NO that is not the way to get a job.
I am sorry but I am afraid you will have to just come and find a job. No one is going to just offer you work on this board for month so you can just sort yourself out.
Of if you have to find an employer from abroad but this forum is not a job board.

Without UK experience its very unlikley that u will get a good job here. But even with such low salary agencies will doubt ur credibility and will not offer you job. With hsmp u need to take some risk, stay in uk and try for job or contract. u may find something good in 3-4 weeks of time.

Akash,

I sympathise with you..Try this : Open a Phone account using SKYPE..Select a UK number...Then put this no. on your CV ..So for agencies/Employers in UK it would be a local Number...
Also call agencies up using SKYPE...It is cheaper then International call..

So at least they know that u have a UK no..
Only catch is that you have to near your PC during UK time to recive calls ..
I did the same thing sitting in India and once i set up few Interviews i came to UK...

This is the next best thing you can do if you dont want to come to UK without a job..

Excellent suggestion. Someone sent me a PM about a strategy for this situation and I suggested getting a UK sim but I think the skype one would be a more economical solution. Although you could always tell the recruiter you will call him back so you don't run out of credit on the uk sim and won't need to be tied to the computer, but you'd want to still have a uk number from skype so it looks like you are in the UK when you call him back.

Hi. Thnx for your suggestion. This could be one option but Skype works when you have access to internet. In case of Power Failure, it will not work. And you know that the Power Failure is a common thing in India.

Global SIM could be better option. Let me see if i can go for such option...

Hi,

I am not in UK at the moment. Otherwise I would have been started working... I am looking for an offer so that I can convince my wife and parents that I need not to spend more on going to UK. Do you have any job in your knowledge? It needs not to be Highly Skilled Job...

If you are looking for a basic job while you are looking for something full-time, it's pretty easy in London. My brother and brother-in-law have both just graduated, and both found temp work over the summer within a week.
I am not, and cannot, offer legal advice to particular people. I can only discuss general areas of immigration law.

People should always consider obtaining professional advice about their own particular circumstances.

Not sounding to be rude, does your wife and parent expect you to have a job ready waiting for you in the UK with a months salary paid in advance so that you won't have to shell out anything from your pocket?

Akash,

You have to take some risks to be successful...I had a highly paid and secured job in one of the major MNCs in IT...One day, i packed my bag and came to UK just like that ..(see my above post how i planned it)...

But you have to COME to UK , to find even a small job...In Shops etc, you cannot send CVs by mail, you have to physically go and give your CV..

No pain, no gain!!!

Can someone please suggest if it would be a good idea to come UK on leave in search of job for 2-3 weeks without resigning from previous company? Once I get a job offer then return to India, resign from the company and go back to UK.

Yes.. it again depends on the type of visa you will be travelling.

Think HSMP is a highly skilled visa. if you want to test the waters by just coming to the UK for 2 -3 weeks leave from your current employer, then you have to shell some x amount.

But take a turn around and see that if you are travelling with HSMP visa. You will spend less with a visit visa and more time. [keep in mind for visit visa it takes 2 -3 months time frame. so far i heard from a friend].

All the Best!

Thanks Antony for your reply.

I'm sorry to have forgotten to mention that I in fact was talking about HSMP. My HSMP application was approved and I'm now doing my homework for EC. My plan is to land in UK soon after getting EC without resigning from my company. I don't want to take a risk because I've seen some people posting in this forum about difficulty in finding a job. So, I don't mind to spend some money if I had to in search of a job.

Thanks,
Vikas

Hi,
Well. 2-3 Weeks are not sufficient..It takes around a 1 month to appear for Final Interview..
First you apply for jobs, call up all agents you sent your CV to(they get thousands of CVs ,so they wont call you, you need to call them so that they can take out your CV)
After that they send your CVs to client..Client takes 1-2 weeks (some time more) to come back ..After that if u r short listed, they will call u for 1st Interview(telephonic) after 1 week and then next (personal) after 1 week..

So you have to start the background work much before you come to UK at least 1 month before...

From my personal experience, as it stands, I wouldn't recommend to try the suggestion below as I find the broadband internet service is still in its maturing and not quite predictable state of service in India (just 2 months ago - I tried in 2 different states).

The basic speed offered was in the range of 256- 512Kbps, but some private companies offer 2Mbps connections (which I think is the fastest available speed), but I don't think their service is as widespread as the state run BSNL using ADSL lines.

The main disadvantages of the suggestions are :

a) you wont skype equipments easily in the market as it is introduced only 6 months ago or so

b) You have be really lucky to get a good upload speed - which is highly essential for any VoIP services like skype, internet telephony.

The other option is to find a local service provider managing VOIP infrastructure running on dedicated bandwidth.

The last thing you want is, recruitment agent putting the phone down on you because of a bad line.

For your first post, I would advice you to find 2 months leave and come to UK to look for a job for 2 months. If nothing clicks, you have the option to go back and join your employer back in India.

Hmm..

I did the same thing, and was successful...But i think scene is different outside Bombay ( i had 2 Mbps line )
No need to buy any SKYPE equipement, just a normal handset..

Next best thing is ,Come to UK for 2 months and try your luck..

I was told even a 2 Mbps (only available in certain types of telephone exchanges in big cities) slogs on full capacity to yeild an effective 1Mbps speed.

Did the investment pay-off in the end ?

Yes, i could call up Agents and could pick up calls..

Even attended interviews and client thought that i was in UK...so i think it was good..

But again it depends on your ISP and city u stay in..
