British Passport for Kids

Post by stha » Sat Apr 05, 2014 3:37 pm

Hi All,

Only recently my application for naturalisation was successful. I'll booking for ceremony soon. However, due to urgency I need to travel and have to apply for my kids British passports who are born here. My question is do i have to apply for there naturalisation first and then apply for passport. or can i directly apply for british passport based on my ILR.

Appreciate your answer in this matter.

If the children were born in the UK AFTER you received ILR, you can apply for British Passports directly and can use the Fast Track service.

If the children were born in the UK BEFORE you received ILR, you have to register them on form MN1 first and once you receive the certificates, you can apply for their British Passports.

If they were born abroad and had a dependent visa, they will be expected to have ILR before they can apply to register on MN1 for British Citizenship.
