General visitor visa - start date

Post by suresh505 » Sun Apr 13, 2014 11:36 pm

HI,

I'm in the UK on Tier-1 (General) visa. I'm planning to bring my mother to the UK on August 20.

The UKBA site says that the visa will be granted for 6 months. If I apply for her visa in June, will the visa start date be June or does it start from the intended date of travel?

Many thanks.

You can ask for a visa to be post dated up to a maximum of 3 months, so yes, you can ask for the visa to be effective from the intended date of travel.
