HMPO Peterborough office called to say they have lost my supporting documents. I am suppose to vote in the home country elections tomorrow so can't even do that now because I don't have my passport.

I will report it at my consular next week. The lady said she will call me again on Friday and in the meantime she will continue looking for it.

I told her that as they have such close links with HO, that she can contact them to issue a replacement certificate and I will sort out my passport. I refuse to pay for the certificate replacement and then have to wait however long for HMPO to refund me, when they can contact Liverpool directly to issue replacement.

Hi everyone,

I am going to apply for my first British passport. I need your help to clear my confusion. On IPS website the following statement is written:

"Your countersignatory should be a professional person or a person of good standing in the community."

If you notice they have used the word OR in above statement. Does it mean we can use either a professional person or any british person (not professional according to their given options) who knows me for 2 years as a counter signatory?

You only need to take the interview letter that you received.

I called on Monday and the person I spoke told me that my application is under examining..... and I should received letter for interview this week....

Can anyone advice on what other number to possibly call aside from the 0300 Number, I did not take a copy of my passport application number on the phone and its now been 6 weeks since I applied and the 0300 line couldn't help me but told me someone will call me back but nothing yet. too early to say, has it been 10 working days though? if not you need to wait for 10 working days and if you had read some earlier post, you will notice that you are not alone, see my timeline about, am guessing i applied well before you? Just like you they couldn't find any information and they advised me to write a letter to customer service because I dint have the application reference.

Count me in as well in that pain..I received my docs yesterday in a small envelope and as I took it out of the letter box I could feel my passports are inside ...before opening that envelope I was thinking to myself that why did they only send my passports? when will they send my naturalization certificate and then I got the shock when I found my "the-then" shinny naturalization certificate folded twice like a piece of sh*t! like you I don't know who to blame for this..maybe they think what's the importance of this cert if you are getting the passport? but for me this certificate is very important as it is a proof of me getting naturalized.

I'd been seriously Pi**ed if I were you...but I have a feeling they will get yours as I can't imagine that such an important department of government can actually misplace documents...

@dadegeer - it does happen within the HO unfortunately and the lady that called me was quite panicky when I said I am really furious. I couldn't vote today at my embassy in our country's elections because of this loss.

She has undertaken to continue looking but I am not going to get my hopes up. The hassles of sorting this out is massively inconvenient.

It varies..I got my documents before my interview.
Ideally you should get it before your interview.
