ILR requirements- 180 days

Post by baburao.rame » Sat May 03, 2014 6:27 pm

Hi All,

I have just landed in UK on 13th of Apr 2014 on Tier 2 General Visa . My job requires me to travel outside UK frequently ( about 60 days /year ) . I wanted to know if these business trips will hamper me for the ILR requirement of no more than 180 days of stay outside UK in 5 years ?
Is there anything i need to keep in mind for these business trips with regard to ILR ?

Thanks
-Rane

The current rule is no more than 180 days absence in any single 12 month cycle/period, so you can be absent for 6 months either combined or split in any or each 12 month period. You will need to keep proof and letters for your absences.

The rules however could change but no one know if or when they will.

I have a question.

Are People coming on TIER2(General) in the current year are still eligible for ILR? I thought ILR thru work permit and TIER2 routes are closed.

Did I miss some thing?

Regards,
Chandra

That's Tier 2 (Intra-company transfers) (ICT) after April 2010 Chondra the OP is T2(G).

However, from 2016 I believe the OP will need to be earning at least £35000 for ILR.

ILR does not cease to exist. Certain routes to ILR may be reduced however, ILR will remain.

Thanks @ argus7 for this information.
One more question on the main topic I raised .. The 180 days out of UK in 12 straight months is applicable for business trips too ?

Thanks
-Rane
