Claiming benefits after EEA2 granted

Post by hosok » Tue Apr 22, 2014 2:07 pm

Hello,
I read a lot on this forum and could quite understand if it's possible or not to claim Housing Benefits as an EEA, if my wife which is non-EEA has already received her RC for 5 years (EEA2).

The claim would be on both of our names as we're leaving together, but the main one is myself (EEA).

Please anymore links to related threads etc would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Yes a person with a right to reside (e.g. an EEA national who is exercising treaty rights and their family) can claim public funds.

See also, the recent changes for newly arrived EEA nationals (click).

Ok, thanks. as a EEA migrate, self-employed I am eligible. The question is- as far as i know housing benefit is on both names, would be any issues with getting Permanent residency (EEA 3, EEA 4) in 5 years time?

Perhaps, you need to visit the CAB and ask about Personal Indeoendence Payments.
