join franchising as business

Post by vvktse » Fri May 09, 2014 5:07 am

Hi
I am planning a uk entrepreneur visa application.
i would like to put money on franchising as business, like subway or coffee republic.
as i don't have much business knowledge
will that be acceptable business plan?
in fact i have only marginally GBP200,000 not much just can meet the minimum requirement.
i am really afraid that i can't get british citizen after all the investment.
is there any successful case that you can provide?
many thanks for you all

Yes you can prepare a business plan for franchise business, and its acceptable under 200K category.
you should have 200K available for investment plus maintenance funds as per your circumstances.
This visa is for 3 years and there is no guarantee of British citizenship but you may ultimately get the British citizenship if you fulfill all the conditions and present your extension and ILR application correctly.
Always help others..... it always come back to you.
Even if i know the answer ... i have this habit of confirming from others..

It's better that you get someone who knows franchising to help you with what and where you should invest rather than just plucking an idea out of thin air. They usually expect 1/3 in liquid assets for a franchise and they'll be a start up cost and a number of weeks initial training. But if you and someone else are committed you can do well. You could be the investor and the person with knowledge helps you with the business. However, choose who helps you carefully.

Hello,

I am thinking as well to join a business franchise like subway.
Do I still need to invest 200k or can I invest 50k..?
On the policy guidance for entrepreneur it says that you have to hold a in the business at graduate level 4 on the occupation list and from what I've seen that there is no occupation on level 4 for café or subway business!!
And my query is that can I still apply for it even if I hold the position of director for the company??
Thank you.

You should be ok with a viable franchise as you mentioned.

As someone who has gone down that lane before, I will advice you should be wary of those
that want you to part away with your money.

Having said that, the first thing you should look at is the viability of the business your want
to pay so much for. Will the franchise deliver to increase you on diminish you? How realistic are
there financial projection. Ask the right questions.
Franchising is ok as long as you have good support.

Regarding meeting the requirement for citizenship, with a 200k investment, and limited
knowledge you are better off coming in as a investor, learn a few things about what are
investing to and if possible get some consultant to work with your while you under study him/her.

If you are in Uk there are many you can talk with and visit, if not get a consultant to examine the market for you.
However, you need to make your money work, and not make a mistake of trusting a franchisor to make the money for you.

The whole essence of Entrepreneur visa is to get people contributing to the Uk Economy. let me know if you need further clarification.
