Indian residing in germany moving to UK as a Dependant

Post by Rahul kumar » Tue May 20, 2014 2:23 pm

Hello all,

I am an Indian by nationality and currently am residing in germany working as a graduate research assistant and my wife working is working in UK with General tier 2 visa

1. Is there a possiblity that i can apply for tier 2 general dependant visa of UK from a UKBA immigration office in germany? or should i apply only from india?

2. Regarding savings it is mentioned in the official UKBA website that
Each dependant must have £600 available to them whether they apply with you or separately. This is in addition to the £900 you must have to support yourself
link: https://www.gov.uk/tier-2-general/family-members . To fulfill this criteria, I have a letter from an Indian bank account that the visa holder has 2000 pounds in her bank account for 2 years to support me( dependant) and in addition i have the visa holder's salary certificate from a UK company mentioning that she gets income of over 900 pounds per month to support herself. My question is whether a deposit (or) letter from an Indian bank account is accepted to fulfill the dependant savings criteria when applying in germany? or only an deposit letter from an UK bank account is accepted to fulfil the dependant savings criteria?

I would be grateful if someone guide me regarding this.

Thank you

1. as you are resident in Germany you can apply from Germany. http://www.ge2de.tpcontact.co.uk/process

2. an original letter from your Indian bank would be fine, Read the requirements carefully : https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... _04-14.pdf
An alternative would be a letter from your wife's employer certifying maintenance.

Thanks for your clarification.

I have a another small question regarding the validity of the savings account statement.

I know a bank statement letter is valid for only 28 days from its mentioned date. But it has to be within 28 days of online application date or appointment date? like if i make an online application within 28 days and the appointment is given after 28 days, will the letter be valid?

read the PBS dependant guidance which describes the documentary requirements, para 87 onwards:
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... _04-14.pdf

The date of application outside of the UK is the date on which you either pay for your visa
application in ‘online’ process countries, or in countries where there is no online process, the date
you attend the Visa Application Centre to hand in your application.
