oh so early July, thanks for letting us know. I might as well send them an email as I will be away from the country for the first 2 weeks in July. So more than likely I will have to wait until the next ceremony.

Hi, the dates of ceremony are quite flexible. Below are dates of ceremonies in Dublin in last two years (http://www.inis.gov.ie).

Previous years Irish Citizenship Ceremony dates in Dublin:

2014
Mon 20/01/2014
Mon 31/03/2014

2013
Mon 11/03/2013
Mon 20/05/2013
Thu 04/07/2013
Mon 21/10/2013

2012
Sun 01/04/2012
Thu 14/06/2012
Thu 30/08/2012
Mon 15/10/2012
Thu 13/12/2012

It looks it could be end of May/June, won't be surprised if it was in July at all. Waiting for a ceremony date myself.

It took exactly three months to get an approval letter:

EU national, living in Ireland over ten years

Application Date: Fri 10th January 2014 (by registered post)
1st Acknowledgment Date: Fri 24th January 2014 (receipt of statutory fee of 175 euros and given reference number, informing me about proceeding to the first stage - checking if I have all relevant requested documents submitted etc.)
2nd Acknowledgment Date: Thu 27/02/2004 (informing me proceeding successfully to the second stage - documents checked, awaiting for reports, ie. Garda, if satisfactory, minister will make a decision on my application)
Letter of approval Date: Thu 24/04/2014 (asking for fee of 950 euros and 2 photographs, copy of my passport)
Documents submitted Date: Mon 24/04/2014

Invitation letter Date TBC

Good luck to everyone!

Does anyone know how many people are allowed to bring to a ceremony???

I submitted my GNIB Card + Fee at the end of march. Didn't think the next ceremony would take more than 3 months and I need to be in the states July 15th :? . I don't have re-entry on my current passport so I'm pretty stuck right now not sure what to do.

I really hope there is a ceremony no later than June 30th. :!:

I'm in the same boat as you, I have to go work abroad for 3 months starting June 30th with my visa expiring in early August.. I've been contacting people here and there, but so far no one has been able to give me concrete answers :?

I email to the department and they reply me

Hi

if you need to travel we could return to you, your GNIB Card & you could
re-submit it to this Office on your return from your trip.
Please note
however, that only applicants who have submitted all the required documents are invited to a Citizenship Ceremony.

Hope this will help

That's not my issue, both my card and the visa are expiring while I'm away anyway, so I'm not sure as to how I'll be able to return home.

I would highly recommend you talk to the GNIB office before flying out.
When I flew back in (though I had a valid re-entry visa), they saw the Naturalizaiton letter and did not even stamp the passport and let me in.

Just do check with them.

Could you please let us know what happened then? did they let you in or deport you or what?

Thanks :)

I 'had' a valid re-entry Visa and when they asked for GNIB card I showed them the Naturalization letter and they let me into the country as I had already asked the GNIB office of this situation. They did not even stamp my passport.

So if you do "not" have a valid re-entry visa, you should check with the GNIB office first.

if your visa and Gnib both expired when you returning back to ireland, keep in mind first the country u flying from wont let u fly unless if you have valid visa 2nd clearly mentioned on INIS.ie that if there is no re-entry visa if you required one your entry will be refused even if you have GNIB card.
The approval letter is not grantee of your citizenship, unless you take oath.
Email to the department of justice on info@justice.ie and they will reply you with in 1 hour

Good luck

so the invitation letters have gone out already, hope to have received mine by the time I get home. It happened to a friend of mine who didnt receive her invitation and had no idea when the next citizenship ceremony was - her only luck was this site, as she was in the March ceremony. So If I dont receive it soon, maybe I'll just drop them a letter.

hi there,

does anyone know the schedule for the ceremony day? so my time is at 8:40am, but when will the ceremony for that start, and when does it end, just want to know the details, so that i can plan properly, as we don't live near Dublin, but we come from Galway (2.5 hrs drive), and i have my job that i need to get back to! I really wish they would give this information in the ceremony invitation letter so we can plan better.

In total it will take 1.5 hours max start to end (as told by a friend who attended the last one).

Certainly take the day off.........I am taking the weekend off. This is big, and we want to celebrate a bit. Plus it is a fair distance from rural Kerry.

I got an email confirming that I am scheduled on next ceremony in mid May, now I got mine official invitation (by post) received yesterday - Fri 4th July at 10.50 am. Anyone who is scheduled at same time as me and fancy some coffee before or after a ceremony? I am taking my sister with me as only one adult guest is allowed. She is flying out to Dublin a day before. So happy, she could make it!

In my invitation letter it says a ceremony including registration will take approximately 1 hours 45 mins. You may bring only one adult guest with you on the day, this guest must enter the venue with you and must be with you when you enter the Convention Centre:-(

Attending a citizenship ceremony is mandatory. If you are unable to do so, you need to notify DoJ&E via email at citizenshipinfo@justice.ie. It may be 4 to 6 months before you can be invited to a further ceremony.

Any one know when they stop sending invites? I'm currently getting a re-entry visa meaning my GNIB card is in the Re-Entry office and I hope to get it back early next week and post it to the citizenship guys.

I wonder would they keep sending invites till like second to last week of June?
