Can child travel on Naturalisation certificate?

Post by ferryahmed82 » Wed May 28, 2014 9:12 am

Hi folks

Just want to ask whether my child (3 yr old) is able to travel with his Naturalisation Certificate on my home country passport? Or is it necessary to have British passport for his travel.

By the time we plan to travel his dependent Tier 1 general would have expired, but we'll definitely have the Naturalisation certificate by then, so this will be enough for his smooth return, or he have to have he British Passport before he goes abroad?

any opinions?

Thanks

I believe he only need your home country passport (or travelling document) to go out from UK , however when your child will return he/she should have either British passport ( not certificate) or a valid visa to enter in UK.

so only naturalisation certificate doesn't mean that the child is British Citizen? and can't enter the UK?

naturalisation certificate does mean that the child is British Citizen... but certificate is not a travelling document ....

I have found a post where someone suggest that it is not recommended to travel on certificate but even if you manage to travel they will have no right to refuse your entry because you are British citizen...

Airlines check if a passenger has all necessary documents to enter the destination country.
