how can I find out what was my Home Office reference number

I am doing my TIER 2 extension but don't have previous Home Office reference number.

how can I find out what was my Home Office reference number? Do I have to have it for my applicaiton?

You can check that in the acknowledgement letter given by UKBA when you applied for visa last time...

Unfortunately I lost all the old documents so I dont have any record... if there is any other way I can get the number?

i am in the same suitation, is it mandatory to fill in previous home office reference numbers?

Where to find it if we have applied online from india?

I dont think it is mandatory to fill these numbers in the application form.
If you dont know the Visa application ref..the alternate is to fill with BRP number..but again it is not mandatory as i had left this field blank in few visa extensions....

We applied online from india and they gave unique reference number ! is it the home office number?

Yes, That will do i guess.In India you will be getting only unique reference number.
