Duration of stay:XX and no entry stamp... problems?

Post by liminal » Fri Jun 06, 2014 9:33 pm

My wife has a C visa issued under EU treaty rights, the duration of stay is marked as "XX". When she asked at the Embassy what the XX means, she was told the immigration officer will decide the duration of stay on arrival. As we travelled via UK and came to Ireland by boat she has no entry stamp. We are planning to go to GNIB to get a stamp4 next week, but I'm worried the immigration will take the opportunity to do find fault and deport her (maybe say no stamp means she entered illegally, or maybe mark the duration of stay as 1 day). Has anyone else had this experience, and were there any problems?

Hi Liminal,

In my own experience, as long as the EU spause of the non-EU is living here there is no problem at all. Just make sure to go to the INIS guys as soon as possible.

No worries if you came in boat and there is no stamp in her passport, just make sure to mention that to the INIS guys.

Regards

Conejo
