Different name

Post by bkarthikisc » Sun Jun 08, 2014 4:55 pm

My wife is going to apply for her naturalisation next week. We come from a part of India where do not have last name. The last name is just an initial which is the first alphabet of her father's name. My wife's educational certificate and marriage certificate shows just her initial as last name where as her passport shows her father's full name as last name.

Can we mention that her last name is different in 1.7 in the AN form and mention the details on page 15 or do we need an affidavit from a notary.

Thanks

Passport is the identity document, you should whatever last name is present on her passport.

She is applying for naturalisation which means she must have made some UKBA applications in the past. What last name did she use in those applications??? Use the same.

Thanks Shahid2000. She was a dependent on her previous applications so she never had to produce her educational certificate hence the confusion

In any case I dont see any other option than to use the name present on her passport. You can explain in the additional info. IMO affidavit will be pointless.
Besides she must have used her marriage certificate when she applied for dependant visa which you say has the initial for last name. If they did not object to it then chances are they wont object to it now.
