First time Tier 2 General visa fee

Post by Shreyasx01 » Mon Jun 09, 2014 10:34 am

Hi guys,

I am about to switch from Tier 1 PSW into Tier 2 General, the tier and category on the CoS is Tier 2 (General - Switching Immigration Category).

I am confused about the visa fee, the start date and end date of my Work dates in the CoS are as below:
Start date: 28 June 2014
End date: 27 June 2019

Does this mean that I have a 5 year leave to remain? So is the visa fee going to be £1202?

How do I find out what is the correct visa fee?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

As the start date and end date on your COS show 5 year period, you can choose to opt for the 5 year visa.

https://www.gov.uk/visa-fees

has the details of fees for the category you choose.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. Is it upto me to choose the visa fee? So if I choose the upto 3 years option I will get 3 years visa and if I choose over 3 years I will get a 5 year visa, is this correct?

The link you provided is for out of country application I guess, I will me making my application from within the UK.

Yes, If you apply through Postal service the fee is £1202. Since you got COS for 5 years, I guess you need to apply for 5 years Visa service only.
All the Best.

Just an update, my company has told me that it is upto me to choose the duration and thereby the visa fee.

Ok cool, Its better to go for 5 year visa at one go instead of doing it twice to become eligible for ILR.
All the best

Thanks for your advice!

Another question, does anyone know if I would have to submit my degree certificate/Certificate of award for the Tier 2 General application? I am currently on a PSW so I do not need to submit right?
