Is it necessary to visit the country which issued schengen

Hello there,
We received our schengen visa from german embassy which is valid for three months. However because of some issues we could not visit germany in our first trip as we had to cut it short. There's no plan now to visit germany although we will be going to spain etc.My question is,
1. Is it necessary to visit the country which issued schengen visa while it is valid?
2. Would NOT visiting the country which issues schengen visa create problem when we apply for schengen visa next time in the same embassy or the other?

what does the 'valid for' entry in the visa sticker state?

its not a good practice to apply for a visa of country which is not main destination . you should always apply schengen visa of main destination ...
there are some schengen countries they take it very serious like belgium etc.
but if you keep doing that over and over again it might be problem ....
whats was the reason not to visit the main destination ... it might be asked ..
