NARIC Letter Requirement

Post by nsm2010 » Fri Aug 03, 2007 12:06 pm

Dear All,
I came to know through this forum that some of applicants got their initial HSMP approval from HO desite of the fact that they did not submitted their NARIC letter. Could it be possible? Is HO accepting applications without NARIC letter? or Naric letter is just a satisfcation for the applicant that his degree is camparable to UK Bachelor\s degree?

Kindly comment

Thats right,

Naric letter is not a must. You dont have to send it with your application. HSMP team has access to NARIC database, where they can check the comparability.

It is just to make urself sure that you investing your £400 quid with goof info abt the product.

Hope this answers ur question

Cheers

This is true. But U need be very very careful. U need to be 100% sure that your degree is recognised and considered equivalent with UK degree.

Dear pantaeima,
How could be 100% sure if you dont have Naric Database. The only educated guess is that my awarding institution is among top three universtities in my home country and i have seen lot of people are getting approval even lower rated universities. Is this guess will work?

If you don't want to spend the money on NARIC, your approach is fine. However if the specific course you were on is not equal to a UK bachelor's you could still have problems. Really, NARIC is not a bad idea if you are worried about your degree in any way!!!

I knew that my degree was all right because I got admitted for postgraduate study at Oxford a few years ago. UK Universities can check NARIC to be sure that an applicant for a postgrad course with a non-UK bachelor's degree is qualified to undertake a UK postgrad course. So I knew from my experience with Oxford that my undergrad degree is equal to a UK bachelor's degree. This is to say that there is another way to know if one's degree is okay besides guessing, even though this way is not necessarily relevant to your personal situation.

dear ball1333,
Its not share matter of saving money, I want to avoid hastle of sending application to NARIC, waiting for their reply (specially after the flooding)and cant submit until get the results. My intentions are to save time, if its affordable. If itsn't possible to tresspass the NARIC comparability letter then, no choice. Any how I am holding Architecture Degree from One of three top ranking university in my home country. Whereas i went through, on this forum, dozens of success stories even their qualifications are with lower rated universtities? and this encourages me to go even without having NARIC letter.

Hi NSM,

Well..unfortunately assumptions wont work with HSMP case workers.

What I have done was calling NARIC. They have confirmed over the phone that my degree was equivalent to UK honours. That will give peace of mind aswell.

Their No. 0870 990 4088

You can then be sure that you stand an informed chance.

hope this is helpful and all the best

Cheers

Dear Venga_pal and Pantaeima,
Yesterday I tried several times but in vain, since all of their operators were busy and no body picked the phone. I opted 1. What should be the best time to call and what should be the ext?
