referee for citizenship application?

Post by RoyW » Sun Jun 22, 2014 10:46 pm

Hi all,

My wife is having difficulty in finding a professional status referee she has known for three years for her application.

My son, 27, (by previous marriage) is a chartered Accountant, could he be considered as a suitable person?

regards,
roy.

You can use 'Project Manager' as your professional referee.

Director/Manager/Personnel Officer of a VAT registered Company is acceptable as refree

Could the professional referee be an unmarried partner of the applicant? I can't see it but neither can I see it expressly not allowed....

Hi,

The professional referee can be of any nationality ?
One referee should be a person of any nationality who has professional standing, such as a minister of religion, civil servant or a member of a professional body, e.g. accountant or solicitor (but not representing you with this application). A list of acceptable professional persons can be found on our website
The above statement was mentioned on the AN guide.

Your one referee "must be" a british citizen... If both referees are british citizen .. No Issue

but One of yourrefree must me professional ( they are mot much restricted about the professional referee BTW) and if this professional referee in Not British Citizen he/she also acceptable as referee.

e.g Your first referee is british citizen and unemployed he/she acceptable
your second referee is project manager in a company but his/her nationality is not British .. he/she also acceptable

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, After going through few of the threads in the forum , I had an another doubt . I works for an IT company and the Project Manager i am referring to also working for the same company. Does he eligible to act as a professional refereee ? Some of the thread here says he can't act as professional referee ?

Manager or director of any VAT Registered company are also acceptable as referee. So most of the companies are VAT registered... I choose by work colleagues as my referee, one of then was BC and even not a manager, while the other is project manager but not BC. I asked NCS guys he said its fine, as there is no fixed list for professional referee. I believe you will be fine.
