work permit

Post by khanmaliknasir » Sun Aug 05, 2007 12:16 am

I need some information for my friend who works in a five star hotel as a trainee chef.He is here on student visa. His company is happy with his work and they have offered him full time job and they want him to apply for a work permit. He doesn't has any diploma or degree in catering or hospitality.
Now what is gonna happen, would he get a work permit easily or his status would creat some difficulties for him in getting work permit and secondly he wants to know the process for a work permit. What he needs from his company and what are the process of getting a work permit.

Thanks

Not much chance I'm afraid. WP procedure is documented on BIA site and UKVISA site and here, so no need to repeat it here.

To be honest, I doubt anyone could get a WP for trainee anything....

It is possible to get a work permit under the Training and Work Experience programme, as detailed on www.workingintheuk.gov.uk but it is quite tricky, and is is necessary for the applicant to have some experience int he field.
