set m ilr peo appt - query about time apart

I spent two months working abroad during my spouse's two year settlement visa. We have our peo appt later this week. Should we make this clear on the form and to the imigration officer? I am worried that it will mean ilr wont be granted. We meet all the criteria, application is otherwise straightforward. What will happen to us?
