Can I extend Tier 2 to only work part-time?

Hope someone can help.

I have a Tier 2 (General) visa which is going to expire soon. My sponsor told me he can't afford to extend me full time for another 3 years. Instead, he wants to extend me part-time by issuing a new CoS with reduced number of working hours and reduced salary :-/

Is it possible to extend the Tier2 visa like this? Or should all the parameters in the new CoS (salary, COS code, working hours) be the same as in the original CoS? Is the minimum salary of £21k or £27k still applies when the number of hours is reduced? I believe, the pro-rata reduction below the minimum salary level is not allowed, is that right?
