Wife's visa after husband naturalization

Post by gaurjai » Thu Jul 10, 2014 4:24 pm

Hi,

I am on ILR visa with Indian passport and recently got married in Mar 2014. My wife then got Spouse Visa till 2016 and is now with me in UK.

I am planning to apply for naturalization now and want to know what would happen to wife's visa status if my application is successful.

If I am given British citizenship then would it have any impact on wife's spouse visa? Would I need to change her category or do any new application for her?

Thanks for your help.

You don't need to change her category of visa. Once she has ILR and has been in the UK for a minimum of 3 years she can apply for British Citizenship, assuming she meets all the standard requirements.
