URGENT - Manci, or anyone, help please!

I am on a Tier 2 visa which is due to expire in a few months. My current employer therefore issued me a CoS earlier this week for an extension.

I have however accepted a new position with another employer who has now produced another CoS for me.

I read everywhere that if one already has a CoS assigned, then it will not be possible for another one to be issued until the first has been withdrawn. How come I have has two CoS issued within the same week?

What do I need to do about the first CoS? Will I get into trouble if I do not ask my employer to withdraw it?

do you have a printout of both CoSs and have you checked that both show the status as "assigned"?

I have the references for both but not sure how to check their status? I thought reference numbers meant the CoS are assigned?

you need to ask for a printout of both CoSs. Near the top of a CoS there is a line: "current certificate status", that is what you should check

Unfortunately, it's not the sponsors' policy to provide with screenshots of the SMS. Is there guidance that says they should?

it is common sense, not an obligation, to provide a printout of the CoS to the migrant because the visa application has to reflect exactly the data in the CoS.

Ask anyway what is entered under "current certificate status" in the Cos.

I've been doing loads of research and it seems from the SMS user guides, once you have a reference number, the CoS has been assigned.

Also, it would seem that I should have asked my current employer to withdraw their CoS prior to being assigned one by my prospective employer. I am now worried it may impact on my extension application. Any advice?

you cannot have 2 unused CoSs concurrently and there is no substitute for checking the printouts or asking both sponsors what the status of each CoS is.

Hi manci, just wanted to thank you for your help.

As expected the sponsors did say that they do not offer screen print outs of the CoS details. In the end, I've had to ask my current employer to withdraw their CoS!
