British referee (originally foreigner)

Hi All,

I got alarmed when a friend of mine discouraged me from including a British referee (a university lecturer) who is originally Asian or African or.... He believes that a pure British referee would further strengthen my application.

Does any one have experience with this and can advice please?

It is a British Citizen, not a born British Citizen.

As long as at the time of your application, he is British, has a passport, he will be fine as referee.
