can you please tell me if they will send SMS update automatically to the mobile no. provided in the applicaiton form or we need to register for this service/pay extra?

They will not send any email/SMS unless you have paid for it. I think the status updated on the website is quite up to date, it no use paying extra for the sms or email.

May I ask you one more quesiton? Can I take pohotcopies of passport where 2 pages of passport come in 1 paper? If you place it on a machine, that is what happens as the pages are quite small and easily fit into 1 paper.

I know this quesiton may look silly but knowing how they send people back for trivial rasons, I thought I will clarify.

Hi Guys

So, after getting the British Passport if I travel to India on Indian Passport (travel on Indian Passport is valid for 3 months after acquiring citizenship); can I surrender my passport in India and get the surrender certificate there.

I have confirmed that I can apply for the OCI visa from India.

Yes Aakash that's what I had done infancy scanned it and printed two pages on one page. I also applies for surrender certificate in person at barbican today. Process was straightforward was told it shld b ready in 3-5 working days. I want to collect in person so shld be done by next Friday.

If u ask for collection in person then u r contacted by SMS n email on completion of process. So that u can go n collect it.

I have 2 Indian Passports ( One is old one and the other one is new one). Do i need to surrender both of them?

No! Take only the existing one as the old one would be cancelled. I was exactly in the same situation.

What should I write as Place of Issue for British Passport??

And processing time for obtaining Indian Visa?

It took 4 working days for me to receive the surrender certificate . Its seamless to apply through VFS.

Not sure about visa.
