what could be the reason
I am currenlty studying PhD at British University. Last year I have applied for a tier 4 extension. The time I have applied
my total length was around 8 years. I went to PEO and same day i got visa but obviously they have ask basic questions in order to establish if I am actually looking to study PhD.
My friends applied this year a month ago via post. He was in the uk for 6 and a half year. He requested for 4 years and 4 months visa as you know usually PhD is 3 years but you get 4 years letter an extra year to write thesis.
He was called for an interview and his visa was refused because they believe that he is not a genuine student rather he is looking to prolong his stay. His interview lasted about 1 hour. Lot of questions about source of funding, why PhD, why not considering something else stuff like that. At the moment they are very strict according to my frd particularlly for people who have lived here over 5 years here.
So I urge to please prepare your interview very well. You must know in and out of your research as you must have written a research proposal so you would know what you are going to do in the next 4 years. and also source of funding must be strong they will definetlly ask who is supporting and why?
Hope this helps! Good Luck
