IELTS expiry for spouse visa

Post by KPD81 » Tue May 13, 2014 9:08 pm

Is the IELTS certificate that is 6 months over 2 year expiry date accepted for a spouse visa?

I have read several threads on British citizenship section of the forum that suggest UKBA is happy to accept it for an ILR application.

Many thanks!

Unfortunately, the requirements for spouse visa and ILR/Citizenship are different. The test would need to be taken again.

The Home Office's reply to this when queried was:
"Please note that the 2 year validity attached to these qualifications only applies to entry clearance applications and are therefore still accepted for settlement and citizenship applications after this validity date."
You can email them to confirm.

WR!
have you got the email address of the home office.?

My wife got 30 months for FLR(M) which is due for extension shortly. I was wondering if we will be able to use the same IELTS certificate (now expired) for the extension of FLR(M).

Any advice/experience

many thanks

Dear Sir/Madam,

Provided an IELTS test certificate shows that the applicant has passed at or above level B1 CEFR, and that the certificate has been considered by the Home Office for an earlier grant of leave, we will not apply the validity date and will accept the certificate for settlement.

Kind regards

Hi Malfayez,

I got this in response to an email I sent earlier when I was submitting my ILR visa application, you can email KnowledgeOfLifePolicyQueries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk with same question and you'll get the answer which you can keep as proof.

Regards,

Networkers!

Sounds, I m still in circle,

e-mail above address and got automated e-mail reply
We do not deal with queries about the English language requirement for spouses and partners. Information on that can be found at:

They only deal with life in the uk test only

Any source to back up the fact that expired ILTES which was used previously is acceptable for extension

Thanks

3. What if your website says my qualification expires after 2 years?

Some qualifications are only valid for 2 years for immigration purposes.
These are shown in the table at the end of this leaflet.

For Settlement applications, we will accept one of the qualifications on
the attached list, or an ESOL qualification on the OFQUAL register at
Entry level 3 or above, that has passed the expiry date, if:

o The qualification has previously been accepted by us in connection
with another immigration application, e.g. for entry clearance, or
o (if it is being presented for the first time) it was taken in the UK,
and is on the OFQUAL register.

The expiry dates on the list do not apply to citizenship applications.
