Switch from tier 2 general to Tier 4 dependent

Hi,
Is it possible to switch from tier 2 general to tier 4 dependent. I am currently on tier 2 general and my spouse wants to study the undergraduate course. SO I would like to become tier 4 dependent. If I want to do that what is the procedure. SOuld I go back to my home country and make application or I can stay in UK and apply and how much funds I should show.

Why do you want to move to tier4 dependent from tier2 general.?
Most people want to maintain tier2 status.

If you want to do contracting it is not good visa to be on

You can only switch if its a postgraduate course at uni and at last 12 months of leave left.

Please can someone throw so light on what is the process of converting to tier 2 dependent to tier 4 general student visa.....

I am currently on tier 2 general and my spouse is tier 2 dependent. I would like to convert my spouse tier 2 dependent to tier 4 general and I would like to become tier 4 dependent on her.... We opting for master program or PhD progam to apply.

Thanks for the reply. I heard it that any dependents who wants to convert to tier 4 they must go back to the home country and apply. Is it true.. if it is can you send any link doc to read.
