Tier 2 Genaral -Incorrect salary entered on COS

Post by candycrush » Wed Aug 13, 2014 9:49 am

Hi All,
I am about to apply to extend my tier-2 general visa and my sponsor has issued me with a COS. He made a mistake however with my salary as he put my basic salary which is well short of the minimum salary requirements. He didn't include my allowance which is allowed according to the code of practise. I alerted him to this and he has admitted to making a mistake. He has since added a sponsor's note admitting that and has now included my full salary including the allowance which means that I meet the minimum salary requirement criteria. My visa is valid till mid-october so I am not in any particular hurry.
I just want to know whether the sponsor's note including my full salary will suffice or will my application be refused due to the incorrect salary originally entered. I have a feeling the sponsor's note will suffice plus I have all the payslips to prove that my salary is indeed above the minimum requirement. Also, it costs quite a lot to assign a COS and even though a mistake has been made, it has been acknowledged and rectified in the sponsor's note so I can't imagine my sponsor having to issue and pay for a new COS but you never know with the UKVI!
Has anyone had a similar experience and if so what was the outcome? Is there a number I could phone to find out if the sponsor's note will suffice?
Any help will be appreciated :)

PS Thanks to all of you guys who share your valuable experiences and expertise on this forum, much appreciated!

adding a sponsor note about the salary is OK as long as the CoS is not yet "used".

btw - the fee for a CoS is only £184

Thanks for the reply Manci, much appreciated. I asked the HR person to confirm with UKVI and they assured him that as long as it was in the sponsor's note that it was ok. I haven't used it yet as I wanted to be certain before I made the application, I'll be applying soonish.

Thanks for the information on the cost of the COS too, I thought it was a lot more! :)
