Can someone please help in replying queries below

Need help on two queries below:
1. I've applied British Naturalization for my son in May'14 and his national passport is going to expire next month, so will impact anything for him if he does not get approval for his naturalization on or before next month/his passport expiry? Do I need to inform national embassy?
2. I ve informed via post when naturalization confirmation will be received then we'll receive two letters one is his passport and other originals that we attached along and second one is confirmation?

Thanks for your inputs

Annoying wait: Been reading this forum for a while and decided to join in and put my story as well. I've been Calling the HO for a while and I keep on getting loads of arranged generic words that don't make any clear sense. ( not allocated to a caseworker one day, under consideration the other day then back to not allocated to a caseworker yet or the vague "ongoing" answer ) Fingers crossed I get an answer soon.

Hi

I applied for Citizenship on May 12th through Bracknell NCS. I sent PBS and original degree certificate.

Not sure whether they had sent all the documents as first i had payment slip being missed which was sorted after a month.

Now, I got a letter from HO today stating to send all original documents related to life in uk and english language.

This was already sent as copy via bracknell NCS. Not sure whether they had lost or HO has lost.

Now coming back to my query, I have my degree recognised in pbs and sent the pbs sheet along with original degree certificate copy.

Should i send the same now. The letter states the following below.

"Those who have obtained a degree taught in English will not be required to show a formal speaking and listening qualification. The qualification must be deemed by UK NARIC to meet the recognised standard of a Bachelor's or Masters's degree or PhD in the UK. You will need to provide the original degree certificate with your application plus a Pass Notification Letter stating you have passed the life in the uk test"

By this, can i just submit only the original degree along with pbs calculation and life in uk.
Please advise.

The guide AN document on page 13 clearly states the following.

Evidence of knowledge of Language and of Life in the UK

Letter confirming success in the Life in the UK Test, stamped and signed by the Test Supervisor; and either

Certificate showing that you have a speaking and listening qualification in English at B1 CEFR or higher, or an equivalent level qualification; OR

Your original degree certificate and one of the following:
1. A print out from the points-based calculator, with the equivalent level of your degree and the level of English2. An English language Assessment (ELA) from UK NARIC (this will also show us that UK NARIC are content that your qualification is equivalent to a UK degree)3. A Statement of Comparability (SoC) from UK NARIC confirming your qualification is comparable to a UK degree, plus an official letter from your university with your name, the title of the degree, and that the qualification was taught in English

Krish,

I have followed point (2) this bit of the guidance:

"Your original degree certificate and one of the following:
1. A print out from the points-based calculator, with the equivalent level of your degree and the level of English2. An English language Assessment (ELA) from UK NARIC (this will also show us that UK NARIC are content that your qualification is equivalent to a UK degree)3. A Statement of Comparability (SoC) from UK NARIC confirming your qualification is comparable to a UK degree, plus an official letter from your university with your name, the title of the degree, and that the qualification was taught in English"

In other words, I got an ELA from NARIC. You need to submit some part of evidence (like the above) in addition to your degree certificate and PBS calculation.
A friend of mine didn't realise this and therefore had to reapply because she didn't submit this additional evidence (she was advised of this by her NCS).

Hi

I clearly checked the rules and there are lot of applicants who got just by submitting PBS and degree certificate. Even my NCS mentioned that they have been advised by HO to accept applications with evidence of PBS and degree certificate only.

The guide says the following
Evidence of knowledge of Language and of Life in the UK
•Letter confirming success in the Life in the UK Test, stamped and signed by the
Test Supervisor; and either
•Certificate showing that you have a speaking and listening qualification in English
at B1 CEFR or higher, or an equivalent level qualification; OR
•Your original degree certificate and one of the following:
1.A print out from the points-based calculator, with the equivalent level of your
degree and the level of English

Eligibility criteria: Spouse with ILR for 3 years
Language criteria : Life in UK + Cambridge English CPE
Method of application: NCS
Council name if NCS used: Kingston
Date of application: 12/5/14
Payment method CC/DC, Personal cheque, Bankers cheque etc: DC
Date of receipt by UKBA: 13/5/14
Date of aknowlegment: 20/5/14
Date of debit or clearance of fees: 22/5/14

Still waiting & call to 0300 on Monday resulted in "the application is ongoing, no decision yet". No information reg case worker being assigned, all he said was same old same that it can take up to 6 months...

Question to all reg the language certificate: do we get it sent back?
And another one: what is needed for booking the ceremony & can that information be obtained over the phone before the actual letter of confirmation arrives?

the orignals are all returned back if you use NCS, some of the NCS do that no idea why

but they took copy of mines and gave the original back to me

also if you have a UK degree you dont need NARIC or PBS print out etc just the degree ccertificate

from the few approvals i have seen i think if you have a IELTS, UK degree or NARIC approved the application takes less time

and if you have Cambridge certificate or something similar they have to go trough some sort of verifciation so take some etc time

also as if you apply as a join applicantion it can take few etc weeks as they have to run checks on both

anyone else who has made a joint application around 7-10th may and still waiting ?
