Hi my wife wants to go back to pakistan on a short holiday, we were wondering how long can she go there? is there a time limit that she has to come back in because of the 2 year spouse visa? she has been here about a year now.

There are no set time period for which a spouse can be out of the UK while on a spouse visa. Breaks of upto 3 months should be OK provided she can show she has maintained ties to you and the UK during the time. The shorter the holiday, the better for ILR.

do you need another visa when coming back?

Post by Mohammed Qadir » Wed Aug 15, 2007 6:16 pm

my wife has a pakistani passport so she can freely travel to pakistan but when she comes back to the uk, is the spouse visa ok that is already on the passport or would she need a new one to come back to the uk after the holiday?. i dont understand what is involved if she wants to go back to pakistan for a short holiday which she is allowed because she is a pakistani but when she comes back is the spouse visa a multiple entry visa or a single one?.
please reply.

The spouse visa is a Multiple entry and she would not have tp apply for another one when she enters back again.

Just take her visa and have a look at the 'Number of entries'. The MULT stands for multiple entries and so is not a problem. But you have to make sure that it is not expired and that she enters UK before that.
