claiming child benefit

hi there i have 2 1/2 years leave to remain as a mother of british child with no public funds.can i claim child benefit and child tax credit? if i claim will this affect my application when i renew next year? pls some one can give on this matter.

father is british but he has no contact with since my child was born.i am single.i have apply to home office to give permission to access funds.but still waiting for reply.

What Country are you native? Complete this - https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... dition.pdf ask the UKVI to allow access to public fund:

1. In the best interest of the child and 2. Due to destitution.
