[ILR]help to seat the test before my visa expires

Post by mia_kia » Sat Sep 13, 2014 9:24 pm

Hello,

I was supposed to have my "Life in the UK test" 3 days ago but unfortunately I wasn't even allowed to sit for it.
When completing my registration form I put my maiden name + "spouse of" my husband's name" as my name. I thought this was necessary as all my proof of address and other required documents for the test had me with my husband name and not my maiden name. In my passport, there was even a spouse field with the name of my husband attached next to it. The agent at the centre refused to let me seat the exam despite all my attempts to persuade him. Was he right? Do I have a right to complain and to claim at least my paid fee back? If so, to whom I should send my complaint.

Regardless, I am having a bigger problem now...my visa will expire soon and i can't find a free place in any of the centres suggested to me from the test for life booking site. My options are limited as my son needs close care at local health centres, i.e. i can't afford to apply for the visa from abroad. Any help, please?

Thank you
