continuous stay broken for ILR

Hi all,

I understand that we need to have a continuous stay of 5 years to be eligible for ILR. In my case there has been a break of 6 months and 10 days. But I returned back on the same limited leave to remain.

am I not at all eligible to apply for ILR? does the counter restart after the 6 month gap? Do I need to have WP for the remaining 5 years? In that case I would have spent 8 years to be eligible for ILR.

Is there any other option to be eligible for ILR earlier?

I first came to UK in April 2003 on business visa. Started working on WP from Aug 2003 up untill jan 2006 when I returned back to my home country to work for the same company from offshore branch. Came back to UK in July 2006 and have been here since then. Apart from this break there are 4 more short break of less then 1 month each and I guess those will not be a problem. These have been for holiday purposes.

It doesnt sound so bad, so you can only try. when you reach 5 years
