When to apply for Tier 2 ICT extension to apply SchengenVisa

Hi,

My current Tier 2 ICT established staff visa is going to expire in 20/11/2013. But i have to apply for Schengen business visa to Germany from 28/08/2013 to 08/09/2013. There is rule in German consulate website "UK-Visa (i.e. Resident Permit, Student Visa, Work Permit) must exceed that of the
Schengen Visa for at least 3 months". With the existing visa i am not eligible for applying Schengen visa. My employer is ready to extend my Tier 2 ICT visa for another 2 years. Can some one clarify my doubts?

1) Can i apply for Tier 2 ICT extension say 6 months prior to expiry?

2) If yes, Does the extension start from expiry of the existing visa?

Yes. you can.

2) If yes, Does the extension start from expiry of the existing visa?
No. the extension starts from the day, when the UKBA takes a decision.

On a workaround, you can apply for a tourist/business schengen visa by August or before (with a annual travel insurance), and you may possibly get a 6 month valid Schengen visa. However, there is no assurance that you will be given 6 month valid visa. Its purely a chance, you can take.
