How long after receiving your documents did you get the approval letter? I am in the same boat.snehamurria wrote:Hello, could anyone please let me know whether return of documents means that a decision has been made on my application? Got my documents back today but still waiting for the brown envelope to turn up. I phoned them and I was given the usual reply about the standard waiting time being six months and my application is still under consideration. Has this happened to anyone? Thanks.
[iD] wrote:Spoke to them yesterday after I crossed the 5 months period.
Still the same 6 months crap. I asked them why is it taking this long and they didn't have any idea nor that they know if it's with a caseworker or not.
They confirmed that it's not a first come first serve basis so I'm guessing they just randomly pick up applications to make it look like they don't have a backlog. Made sure I tell them that this was the most pathetic service I have ever received.
Was told that I will get a call from caseworker after the 6 months period is done and they will only tell me that my application has been delayed and nothing more. And if I don't get a call back from the caseworker after 6 months then I will have to call them and they will email the relevant department for the latest update. No penalty or anything for delaying it.
Oh and that 6 months thing is just a guideline. Caseworker can take as long as they please on a single application.

hi MB..sorry to see that u have not yet recieved .. I thought you would by now..
so didnt bother to msg u .. when did u apply ? have you called them... ? is your case a straightforward one ?
MonkeyBusiness wrote:I think for our last bunch of applications we will have to send a letter to our MP and get this progressed
as i have seen few cases where after 6 months there was no response and once the email from MP was send the application was processed in couple of weeks time
i am hoping we dont have to go down this path
