CHILD BENEFIT DEPARTMENT LOST BIRTH CERTIFICATE

Hi

I applied for my daughter child benefit, i posted filled form, birth certificate of my daughter along with covering letter that return my daughter birth certificate as soon as possible. I posted through royal mail special delivery.

After 12 days child benefit department send me letter that your child benefit is allowed, your amount will be credited on 08th October 2014. But they did not returned my daughter birth certificate. I called them, the department advise me that we will call u and update you regarding return of your daughter birth certificate. I received call day after tomorrow, they says we are recovering your child birth certificate.

If child benefit department did not recover my child birth certificate,

Can i request local authorities to issue new birth certificate?

Can i ask compensation from child benefit for the cost?

I need birth certificate urgently to apply my daughter Passport?

yes you can ask for the local authorities for issuance of another copy of Birth Certificate.

Can i ask Child benefit department to compensate me regarding issuance of duplicate birth certificate.

I think you should have to wait few more days they might recover your birth certificate.

If the did not recover the original, can i request compensation from Child Benefit department.
