post study expired, applied for tier2 general without a cos,

Dear all,

Can anyone advise the best in the following situation?

The situation is: I am on post study till the 31st of august 2014. My employer applied for the licence and I have made my application without the COS assuming my employer would get the licence but unfortunately it got refused. And now I received a letter to book for the biometrics in 17 working days. My position is human resources manager(HR) in the application form.
Can I withdraw my application and apply for the student visa? Or Can I choose to go with another sponsor who wants to sponsor me in a different position as software developer(not a HR)?
What are the chances that I can get a student visa?
