Tier 2 Visa Extension Help

Hi All,
my details:
Sep 2008: Came to UK for my masters degree
Dec 2009: Finished my masters degree
JAN 2011: Started working for my current employer on a Post Study Work visa
Jan 2012: Shifted to Tier 2 General from PSW (in UK)
Granted on: : 03-03-2012 and valid until: 23-01-2015 ( Total years granted: 2 years 10 months 20 days)

My employer want to extend my Visa in November 2014 and I will be helping MY employer to fill my COS. I wanted to clarify some things:
1. Can I apply for a 2 year extension or 3 year ? bit of Confusion in guidelines it says you can extend it for maximum for six years and on the webpage it says maximum of five years. which one applies to me?

2. Do i have to use online application or paper forms or there is any separate application forms for tier2 extension ?
3. What are the Documents required?

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Your case looks similar to me.

I have recently applied for my Tier-2 extension.

1.) You can apply for 3 year tier-2 extension.
2.) Online would be straight forward.
3.) Passport, BRP, COS letter from employer, 2 passport photos (you will need to maintain any money as you have already proved in your previous application. You don't need to send your English language requirements as you have already proved in your previous application).

the six year cap applies to you, so your cannot stay longer on T2G than March 2018. As you will be eligible to apply for ILR in Feb 17 there is no point in applying for longer than 3 years (although you could but the fee would be higher).

The work end date given in the CoS should reflect the above.
