Go here https://passport.gov.in/oci/forgotRegis to find your GBRL # and File (Acknowledgment) No then use this link to track the status - https://passport.gov.in/oci/statusEnqury
Tip: click on the green circled arrow for the question to appear in some browsers
When i would get back the originals?
It takes 5 -10 days for the original documents to be sent back, did you provide a self addressed/stamped return envelope? (Must be Ordinary and not special delivery)
Thanks in advance.

I applied for OCI but my documents are returned to say I am not eligible as I am a civil servant in the UK. Is this correct? I thought if I was working with Home Office, Military or Security or a IT civil servant with MOD then I cant apply. I cant believe that all civil servants are ineligible to apply!!!
Its a shame that the Embassy/India Govt does not know the difference between the two!
What are my other options? Please help!
Your options are - Apply for PIO - its same as OCI life long but cost £42 more (another incompetency)

My status:

Date Of Acknowledgment 15-SEP-2014
Registration Status at Mission LONDON
OCI- Number Axxxxxxx
Documents Printing Status PROCESSED On 17-OCT-2014
Dispatched From MOIA (OCI ) NEW DELHI On 20-OCT-2014
Document received At LONDON On 22-OCT-2014
Passport sent Via Royalmail SD On 22-OCT-2014

Seems like there is Diwali holiday for HCI London on 23rd Oct, and there was no one receive the delivery at HCI(weird, not even a security??) and Royalmail left a delivery card and someone from HCI London has to collect it. I am little bit worried now, do someone from HCI go and collect usually? There should be several posts today to HCI and there should be someone to collect or procedure to collect the missed deliveries.
Does anyone has this kind of experience before?

Haris

AFAIK there is an internal process for such missed deliveries. I believe mails are normally redelivered on the next working day.
I remember someone else posted similar issue before and their documents were redelivered by royalmail on the next day.

Thanks ban.s - you raised a hope for me.
I called Royal mail helpline and one lady said they will not try for redelivery unless someone from HCI makes a request with the help of card or collects it in person at their delivery office or they will send back to sender only after waiting for 18 calender days. When I insisted she said she will try to arrange for redelivery on Monday again.
I called HCI London security - they said they usually dont receive anything during Sat, Sundays and other public holidays and no one from HCI will go and collect it with the card. He was wondering where they left card. But said usually Royal mail postman delivers soemthing like 400 to 500 passports everyday in gunny bags and he knows if its public holiday for HCI they wont deliver until next day.
I called Royal mail helpline again and this time there was another lady who was more courteous and said she will put a note to deliver it again tomorrow.
Fingers crossed now - I dint know there was holiday to HCI today else i would have send it next day ie today.

Thanks
Haris

Royalmail have special relationship and agreements with embassies and large corprorate customers. Customer helpline will not have such specific information and you'll usually hear standard response from them.

my passports were delivered for the next day - ie today morning and it was signed by DARREN.
Royalmail confused me by putting a standard message - dropped a while you were out card which was wrong.
Thanks ban.s for the guidance

Thanks

For Minors you must update passport details every time you get a new passport (ie 5yrs)
2/ Can I make combine application for myself and my son (4weeks old)
You can do a family application for OCI, the online form does have a option in the end of your application to add another family member.
3/ which is better for infants PIO or OCI?
Always go for PIO for minors as its lifelong (now) and also no need to update each time a new passport is issued also costs £63 lesser than OCI.
