Globalindian,
I think it is just matter of time, I have been told by my council that HO issues the letter based on location of the council and also they do in batches so that people get the approval letter atleast 2 days after they issue. The reason is so that the HO can send the Naturalisation certificate to the respective council. So unless some one has any issue with the application I see this more as matter of time. In my case letter was issued on 20th but it reached only today.. the reason is only because so that they can make sure Naturalisation certificate reaches the council in time.
Hope this information helps. Good luck I know waiting is frustrating but again they clearly say that 6 months is their SLA..

Deliberately they sent letters 2nd class so that you dont get this information that your application is approved and also to manage council activities as they have to prepare the ceremony. In my council they dont have private ceremonies so no choice other than to wait, anyways I wont get much affected as I dont have any travel plans also I dont want to spend any more extra dosh .
One can do the following by calling the HO (every 2 days) and ask him about the status as you have to book holidays.
Calling council I dont think is going to make much of help but every council is different so call them and get the whole procedure as that would help to calm nerves a bit (when to expect what). My council doesnt share any information about who got approval or whether one got approved, they only ask if you have recieved the HO letter as they would look for a particular reference # from the approval letter starting with 9...
But again as I said this spreadsheet is great way as well, I am sure they (HO) are working behind and there is a pattern which is followed, that is what I felt today when I was talking to the council guy.
Good luck

This letter has got both approval as well as invite for citizenship ceremony. Checked with registrar office, my son 's certificate has arrived in the registrar office but I am still waiting for the letter. They checked with the home office, both the letters were sent on the same day, So my Son 's letter should be arriving anytime.

I was just curious. It seems that different councils have difference prices.
I have got my certificate yesterday via a private ceremony at £100. It took about 10 min! Make sure you take both approval and the invitation letter with you when you go to the ceremony.
Hope all goes well for you.
