Sponsor for UK Visit

Hi,
I was just wondering does a sponsor have to be employment to sponsor a visitor coming to the UK? Or would just having a savings account with enough money be enough? And they don't claim benefits also.

Employment is not a requirement. Employment, in any case, merely indicates an income stream and as more than half of the UK population are not actually employed, it does not mean that half of the UK population can't welcome a visitor!

But, don't forget that as a sponsor, showing only your financial ability is not sufficient. The applicant has to demonstrate his or her own social and economic ties to their homeland, otherwise the visa may be refused.
