MP can’t involve any immigration matter until its really going wrong, quote from email
“MPs are limited in what assistance they are able to give in immigration cases and are typically limited to chasing up outstanding applications”
its Coincidence your local MP find out your application already granted. He just get this credit. Thats why he email you. Its happen lots of time application granted 5/6 days back but call centre and actual HO input are not synched...
mhsadique, I believe something has terribly gone wrong for anyone who has waited for beyond the time when the HO says it deals with almost 96% of applications. Plainly, for anyone to be in the hapless minority of 4% particularly when their application fits the 'straightforward' criteria. Take a hard look at the last couple of replies above to see they're many here.
The other point makes me think you are being very pessimistic because you've just generalised on insufficient data about a specific person whose name you don't even know -- let alone having grounds to suspect him of opportunism ie my local MP. It's certainly not a coincidence, because he didn't find out anything, I emailed him to stop him from getting involved because there was nothing to be involved in. And in my experience he's been very responsive whichever way I reached him, let it be email, phone, letter or dropped by his surgery. So put that in your piper and smoke it! (joking).
But on a serious note, I think it's wrong of anyone to discourage waiting applicants here from seeking assistance from their MP on account of the futility of this. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy politicians bashing as much as the next guy. But the HO has an "MP Team" to deal with inquires made by them and they're, I'm told by mine, very efficient at giving update and generally getting back to them in writing. And I know this is true because my MP has himself forwarded me a copy of a letter from the MP headed with this team's name.
If waiting applicants' contacting their MPs was pointless, can you suggest a useful alternative? Should they perhaps a) weep b) go on a hunger strike c) shave their heads d) all of the above
So, guys, MPs are your best chance of having anything moving with the HO, especially if you have or are going to be experiencing adverse effects due to your outstanding applications.
Hang on in there guys and don't become fatalists!
