whatever you have (convicition, caution, point on your license) CRB check is carried out in all cases and should not take extra time compared to the rest of others as I understand....its not that they only carry out further checks on the ones who have disclosed somwthing in the good character section... i was told by the kind person in the call centre that they are just checking my immigration history... :(

all I wanted is to have the brown envelope before christmas...otherwise 4 weeks (2 pre and 2 post chrsitmas) is almost a write off...

What I am about to say is purely based on assumption.
I think HO has some sort of online system which just answers yes or no. It just like magic ball which tells you if you should do something or not. If the answer is yes, HO has to contact that authority to get more details like a conviction, FPN or PCN which can delay the application.
If the answer is no, then that is you case decide. I am pretty sure that part of that check involves checking your details with security agencies.

Reason I am making these assumptions is that when I applied for FTS in Scotland at PEO, I actually dealt with CW who done the checks on 3 different systems(if I can remember correctly), it took about 10 mins and then I was told everything is in order, I can pay the fee and wait for my passport to be returned with visa stamped on it. That took another 30 minutes. that was back in 2007 though.

I applied for ILR just over an year ago at same PEO and checks were carried out next day(normally same day but their system was down) and application approved.
There is a thread in Indefinite Leave section for people who had their same day ILR applications deferred due to further checks required reasons. I am assuming that system says yes to certain check and they have to turn the applicant away until more information are being gathered.

Feel free to shed more light if anyone has anymore information or even if they don't agree :-)

@akhurshid
Personally I think that is what is going on, like I explained above. It's a yes and no thingy. If you answer yes…then more checks by a 3rd party outfit

It was the same when I did my ILR (same day service) Glasgow. The CW showed me my approval letter saying my ILR has been granted but he was just waiting on checks to come back on my spent conviction which they normally carry out.

He explained that I can leave since it was already getting late and they will give me a call later that day or the following day to confirm if my ILR will be granted. I went back home same day only to receive a call that the checks came back fine and I will receive my ILR and HO letter following day. So I guess the same checks are again carried out on the naturalisation application with other checks with HMRC etc

Well there is nothing to worry about, just the waiting game is frustrating with no hope of knowing how fast or which stage your application is at. One is kinda blind to the whole process apart from waking up one day and seeing a brown envelope…pathetic…

Nae worries am sure we will get to know sooner than later... :D

Folks I have updated the dashboard but I am unable to upload it. There seems to be problem with forum so I'll try again later.

I have list of 77 applications and 53 of those have been approved which means 69% of us have received approvals.

I suggest you write to nationality team and enquire why they have failed to meet their set standards. Email address can be found on acknowledgement letter and NCS receipt.
