But why on earth they chargr in $ when paying to for the actual application, they charge $1495 and $100 for the biometrics fee. $1595 is £1000 and £874.

Leave alone the fact that the price was clearly designed to get rid off immigrants. Next step will be to multiply the fee by 100 and to offer morgaes to visa applicants.
