Passport application

Post by travelerzee » Fri Nov 28, 2014 10:15 am

hi all,

I have applied for naturalisation, but waiting for the outcome. I have started looking at the passport application and I have a few questions.

- can I use my manager who works at a LTD company that I used to work at? She is the "recruitment manager" and has known me for more than 2 years and we still see each other regularly.
- how far in advance can the counter-signatory complete the form? say for example if she completes it before I become naturalised. Would that make a difference? I am seeing her next week, and could get her to complete the form, but
I might only get my naturalisation approval next year.

The countersignature on a passport application confirms all the details on the form and should only sign after you are a British citizen.
Check the FAQ before posting!
Citizenship (adults, children, passport)

Hi, i decided to go with a friend who is a university lecturer. Do they generally contact the countersignatory? If so, how? She has put the uni address and mobile number on the form.

I'm just concerned that if they post something to her, she wont receive it due to the holidays or it will end up in a pigeonhole somewhere on campus...

No, they generally do not contact the referees. It would be a good idea if they could include their email address in case though. But mobile number should suffice if needed.

My counter signatory signed and dated 4 days before I was naturalised because I wanted to apply straight after the ceremony. There was a slight delay in my passport application and it resulted in one of the managers calling me. I asked if the reason was that the person who countersigned did so before I became a citizen and they said not at all. That didn't matter. She entered an incorrect passport number, they called her and it was resolved.
