Good luck Sonnyboy8011, I believe everybody wanted to know what is different! why people applied later get it sooner than some people applied months ago!

For those wondering why some applications are being held back, here is what I believe is the answer: net migration has risen enormously in 2014, and as end of March the 2014 targets for EEA members migration had already been reached...! Therefore they must be putting a stop on applications for EEA members without PR card + EEA family members where EEA family members does not hold PR card?, (and probably other identified nationals) as it does not suit them to grant nationality to more people because of their targets...

Here are a couple of links with the figures and it is quite clear to me, that when March 2014 figures were released in April, that´s when they put the stop on many applications...

http://www.migrationwatchuk.org/latest- ... statistics

March 2014 figures were released in April, showing higher EU immigration rates and that is when they seem to have put EEA applications on hold:
http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/dcp171778_375307.pdf

Any thoughts?

The targets are around immigration, not nationality though. EEA citizens being here has already impacted the immigration figures, so it makes no more difference after that, with naturalisation. If anything, naturalising EU citizens probably makes the statistics look better, as it means 1 less person to list as being an EU/immigrant citizen living in the UK, and one more Brit.

True, but I cannot help but feel that this block on processing of EEA applications is linked to the "Anti-European immigration" current political framework... What is clear is that no EEA applications (with PR card) seem to have been processed since April...

I am not one for speculating so I won't go into the details why it appears, looking at this forum, that EEA citizens haven't been naturalised as of lately.

I did however submit a request for information under the FoI act that asks how many EEA applications were received in March, April and May and how many were processed.

You can follow this request here

There's no point in doing more than one request for the same thing. It's not going to speed things up but it might uncover something going on that can then be followed up either directly with the HO or via your MP. I'd recommend to wait for the outcome of that request.

hi,

you are right, no point. Wait and see what they tell us. I just lost my hope now, don't know what to do. I don't think MPs are helpful, for what I can see in response from other ppl :( If HO will not give us the answer, none else will :(

I called the Home Office today and the same standard reply from them which I have been receiving since starting to call them in July. Based on my experience with them about the missing B1 Certificate which I only discovered in September. I feel my application and all the outstanding applications (over six months) are not handled and kept gathering dust!!!!

I feel desperate as there is no way out for this problem!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,
HO replied on my letter saying, they are doing their checks and once it is finish they will take a decision.
My application submitted 2/4 therefore I've been for 8+ months.
I believe we need to forget about it! it will come ONE DAY !!!

Doing checks in this context means they have not handled the application at all. Otherwise, Should they carry out their checks on the application they should have finished now.

I applied on 18th July and my application was delivered on 23rd July. It's been almost 6 months and no reply yet. My friend applied after me and got his approval 2 months ago. I called HO today and got just a generic answer " Still Under Process And Will Get Decision Soon. "
Anyone else here who applied in July and still waiting for for reply or am I the only one on boat ?

Hi juansmith007, sorry to hear that... :-(
Did you call the HO again for a status update? I saw on another thread that an EEA application from June 2014 seems to have been processed and letter seems to be on its way...

I called yesterday. and no news...
same usual answer, they said "i see you already made a complaint a while ago, so there's no point doing another one... only thing i can say is call back in a month if you don't hear from us"

hopefully they get back with an answer before the 1 year mark...
